CUSD Cultural Proficiency Report
The purpose of this page is for our staff and students to be able to illustrate the amazing things that are happening at our school!
What is IDAC?
Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District. Dr. Joshua Shapiro, oversees IDAC.

Multi Cultural Week at CNEC
The week of November 13-17 was our UNITY Week. This year, each student could pick up a CNEC Passport and complete tasks such as learning how to write their name in a language, make a cultural craft, participate in a parade of nations, and many more activities. The week ended with a showcase of talents from our cultural groups on campus and included performances form our Special Education classes. We were truly INSPIRED and felt the UNITY on our CNEC campus.

Acceptance and Understanding of All
Family Groups
Every six weeks our students participate in Family groups, which includes lessons that focus on acceptance and understanding of all and social-emotional wellness.
Family groups have been successful in discussing items of inclusion and diversity on the CNEC campus and students and staff have worked to develop plans that are implemented throughout the school. These have included, but haven't been limited to, lunch time activities, conferences, and assemblies.
Diversity Council
A diverse representation of our student population and staff meets to address culturally relevant topics in order to positively impact our school culture. It is our aim to include students who express an interest in being on the Diversity Council. If you so desire, please contact Mistie Burros at mistieburrow@cusd.com.
It is the goal of Clovis North Educational Center to provide and attend trainings offered through the year to increase our awareness and understanding of diversity and acceptance of all cultures and races. These trainings vary and are offered throughout the year. All staff members are required to attend such trainings.
